Diversity Thru Representation.
In partnership with the Los Angeles Kings, Toyota Sports Performance Center and LA Kings Iceland in Paramount.
Welcome families to 24° of Color - a Diversity Ice Skating program of ThruGUIDANCE. Our program is in partnership with the Toyota Sports Performance Center, Los Angeles Kings and LA Kings Iceland in Paramount.
Our goal is to diversify ice skating and ice hockey in LA County by making these sports more accessible financially, ensuring diverse representation at the rink, introducing young people to recreational ice sports, and providing resources for them to compete competitively, if interested.
Currently, only 2% of ice sport’s participation is African-American and 3% is Latinx. When Black and Latinx youth do participate, they often experience consistent frustrations that include outrageous costs, lack of support, feelings of isolation, not being scored fairly at competitions, lack of community, and suppression of identity and culture. America’s ethnic landscape is rapidly changing and the world of ice skating, like everything else, must also be reflective on our nation’s racial and cultural diversity. ThruGUIDANCE is at the forefront of that movement in LA County.
